Not sure, But any one of this note might help you for sure.

 

1587949 - Installation error : The Product Keycode is not Valid. INS00140 - Dashboard Designer 4.0 SP01 (and earlier)


Symptom

  • Receive error message during install
  • The Product Keycode is not Valid. INS00140
  • Will not accept the valid license key when installing

 

EnvironmentDashboard Designer 4.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Install Dashboard Designer 4.0 with Valid Keycode
  2. Error is displayed

Cause

  • This is known issue and fixed in ADAPT01538339
  • Under Add/Remove Programs, you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable – KB2467175 installed
  • There is a conflict between keycode validation process and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Patch KB2467175

2172301 - Dashboard 4.0 installation failed with error INS00140.


Symptom

  • Dashboard Designer 4.0 installation failed with error INS00140.
  • The Product keycode is not valid. INS00140
  • Cannot install Dashboard 4.0 even the key is correct.

 

Environment

  • Dashboard 4.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Run setup.exe as administrator.
  2. Enter valid keycode when prompted.
    =>Note that the "Error: The Product keycode is not valid. INS00140" display.

Cause

  • Install media or install target path contains Japanese or Chinese characters.

Resolution

  • Change the Japanese or Chinese character patch to English path.

1715276 - Dashboard Product Key Code missing or invalid


Symptom

User is prompted to enter a valid product key code or to hit continue after starting the application.  The prompt continues to occur whenever the application is run despite entering a key code.

 

 

Cause

On rare occasions,  the key code is not registered to the Windows Registry.

 

Resolution

Please follow the steps below to manually enter a valid key code:

  1. Start regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Xcelsius\Keycodes
    For BI4.x Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Xcelsius\Keycodes
  3. On the right, there will be a single entry named "Default". Double click on the "Default" entry and confirm whether the keycode is visible and does not contain any space before the entry.
  4. If the key is blank, Add the key and close out of the registry.

Upon completing the steps above,  re-start the application.
